How does the QR code scanner work?

It uses your browser's camera (with your permission) to detect QR codes in real time, or you can upload an image and the scanner decodes it locally. The decoded content appears in the result panel as soon as it's recognized.

Does the scanner work without installing an app?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — on desktop and mobile. No app or plugin to install.

Is my camera feed or image sent to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The camera stream and uploaded images never leave your device. QRQuick does not log scan content.

What if my browser doesn't have camera permission?

Use the Upload Image tab instead. Pick any photo or screenshot containing a QR code and the scanner decodes it locally. Camera permission can also be re-enabled from your browser's site-settings menu.

What QR formats does the scanner support?

Accepted Answer

Any standard QR code — URLs, plain text, WiFi credentials, vCards, phone numbers, email addresses, SMS payloads, and crypto-payment URIs. The decoded text appears verbatim; URLs get a one-tap Open link button.

Why should I verify QR destinations before tapping?

Accepted Answer

Scammers print malicious QR codes (sometimes pasted over legitimate ones) that lead to phishing sites. Always read the destination URL before opening it. The scanner shows the decoded URL up front so you can confirm it's the site you expect.
