How much smaller will my images get?

Accepted Answer

Typical savings are 40–80% for photographic JPG/WebP at 75% quality, and 10–40% for PNGs that are mostly photographic. PNGs that are already small (icons, line art) may not shrink much because they were already efficiently encoded.

Is the compression lossy?

Accepted Answer

Yes for JPG and WebP — those formats are lossy by design. PNG output is lossless but PNGs typically shrink less. If file size matters more than perfect fidelity, picking JPG or WebP with 70–80% quality is usually the right call.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the canvas API. Images never leave your device. QRQuick has no access to them.

Question 4

Why is my PNG bigger after compression?

Accepted Answer

PNG is lossless, so re-encoding a PNG that's already well-optimized can produce a slightly larger file. Either uncheck 'Keep original format' to convert to JPG, or skip compression for that file.

Is there a watermark on the output?

Accepted Answer

No. QRQuick never adds watermarks, branding, or metadata to your images.
